I do not share your views of the BBS, and I actually like lurking there.
The BBS will not die, because as Newgrounds itself grows, more and more people will click that little top-right button in the corner.
Sunday 28/3/10: "3,971 posts made yesterday, by 969 different users."
2007/2008: "8,791 posts made yesterday, by 1,567 different users."
I call bullshit.
Face it; your biased opinion cannot beat the statistics, no matter how much you try to make it sound like a fact. The facts are behind my back; there's nothing behind your back.
And FYI NG's traffic has increased from about 1,000,000 to 1.3 million visitors, and the number of BBS posters is sharply decreasing from 1,200 to 900.
Do the math, instead of spewing crap out of your mouth. The BBS is dying, and the statistics prove it. The +30 users from yesterday were probably the banned assholes that decided to spit more garbage again, and thus the increase by 300 more posts.
As Newgrounds grows, more and more users will leave the BBS than users will join. The relationship is inverse; more visitors to the portals = less posters on the BBS.
The BBS never really mattered to me.I got sick of the jerks there.

A gold account is typically your NG account.
It's called "Grounds Gold", which is a very fancy name for an NG account. They are the same thing.
I just checked my calculator and that would mean those 930 users made 3 posts.
And the BBS isn't dying. Just the only board you ever view.
