It's an HTML type of test.
Like some of the symbols won't appear like it appears here when viewing the page's HTML.
Example:
¥ in page
¥ in HTML
And so on.

And this is important for BBS users like you for if you write an incredibly long post and you get the error that you have exceeded the character limit (even though the character count says 27 or something), it is because some of the symbols take up more character space than they seem to take up in your BBS post.
