WHAT THE F***!? THAT THIS SUCH BULL! NEWGROUND SOULDN'T BE OFFENED!
how did you find this?!

Wow dude I think you took it a little too seriously.

Find the wiki? From the shitty BBS. Where else?

You said shit allot, lol.

I need to upgrade my vocabulary.

But really, it's a rotten piece of poop. (Is that better now?)

Control + F "shit" = 12 results INCLUDING "shitty" and EXCLUDING user comments/replies.

By the way I'll reply to your PM tomorrow. Too much work to do here, and not enough time and discipline to do it.

oh. i didn't knwo that. sorry for all the caps...

Learn something new everyday!

The caps was fine; don't sweat it.

I don't really get irritated by caps.

Also by the way, you can say "Fuck". There's no need to censor it.

It looks like someone needs their diaper changed.

Meh it could have been MUCH worse.

Tell me to talk about Malachy and you will ask if you can kill yourself.

............................

Thank you for visiting our piece of shit. I admit, its largely incomplete, but like all wikis, its a work in progress. The reason we decided to make many articles about users and mods was because A) the majority of visitors are BBS regulars and B) this information is not anywhere else, including the official wiki. The official wiki also doesn't cover individual games, movies, or independent artists, so I think we have at least that going for us.

Incidentally, we are not run by 50 people. I have no idea where you got that number. We have two regular admins and several people who occasionally edit. If we get information wrong sometimes, we're sorry. Just change it so that it is correct.

Sincerely, a Wikigrounds admin

- It wouldn't be a piece of shit if you didn't act like it should be made as the official NG wiki. ie. whoring it in the wiki thread Tom made with like 20 posts as if you are advertising your very own website on the BBS.

- Other than the BBS regulars, who cares about those articles? Seriously, if it were the official one (which it won't) I bet a large amount of it would be rendered useless. It's more of an attention whore show-off advertisement than information. As for individual games, movies or artists, the word has gotten around them pretty quickly without a wiki. New users would learn absolutely nothing out of it, and to be specific only 5-10 articles will a new user find helpful.

It really shouldn't be called "Wikigrounds" if 90% of the crap is for BBS users only, and since I do really despise the BBS it's no surprise how I found it terrible. The BBS bandwagons was a good one I admit. So far, all shit in terms of covering all of Newgrounds, except for users who specifically want to know the BBS community (which is gold and which is less than 5%).

Like citricsquid said "...Wikigrounds is full of shit..." especially when you made some weird claim that NG makes $4,000 a day (which is indeed bullshit). One wrong fact is all it takes to make someone lose trust in a source. In this case, I lost trust ever since I saw citricsquid's post and how he was right (not like i had much hope to begin with), and downright declared to myself that wikigrounds is full of stupid crap.

Get your info together properly and maybe it won't be so bad. Find EVIDENCE to prove, or you all are full of shit.

Also instead of largely focusing on the BBS, focus on site rules where NEW users can find useful. The official has a nice balance between site history, mention of specific artists and site rules. Yours has nothing but BBS stuff that hardly 0.1% of the site will care about (because 0.1% of the site actually posts to the BBS) and flash series/authors (as if they don't get any exposure). Hell over half your articles are individual mods/users, and only few are BBS history or BBS rules, in which those two have little to 0 information (meaning they have 5 sentences).

There is your constructive criticism. Now go fix it. (Or not. Up to you really.)

*I do admit I was too harsh, and I apologize for that. Stuff like this sometimes get deeply into my head, when it's pretty much nothing of a big deal.

Well I don't think wikigrounds is that bad. It is just incomplete. It doesn't matter if there is a lot about the BBS. Anyway, that is where a lot of Newgrounds culture started.

Not really.

A lot of the culture started in the flash portal. More specifically the various flash series, the spam crews, etc.

The BBS can screw off (be deleted), and the ad revenue of NG won't change. Maybe even rise due to less wasted bandwidth.

You only hate the BBS because of Malachy. No one really cares that Newgrounds was originally a game site offering walkthroughs on games that the future users will never even remember, and it doesn't even mater if they posted the rules, because no one ever follows them and they use the excuse "they didn't know that was against the rules" when they get banned.
The only reason you trust the Official Wiki is because you're an ass kisser.

That's funny coming from a BBS user. It's seems like you are the ass kisser for having over 2,000 BBS posts, and therefore kissing up to the fan-made one. This comment itself is also an example.

Also, the fact that I hate the BBS because of Malachy is wrong. If I did hate him, I wouldn't give a shit if he banned this account. The fact that there is literally nothing except masturbation, breasts, penises, weed, vaginas and other immature topics makes the BBS a piece of shit.

Your opinion is invalid for being a BBS regular.

Strangely, I actually agree with a lot of the spirit of what you say, despite the hostility you have towards our project. Personally, my interest in NG is in the Flash side of the site, which is what I feel NG is all about. However, since we get most of our hits from the BBS, the BBS side has dominated a lot of the articles created. I specifically questioned the notability of mods, arguing that if I became a mod tomorrow, would that instantly make me interesting or worth writing a page about? However, I respect that the BBS has become a massive part of NG, whether I am interested or not. When Wade, for example, posts a stack of comments about stuff that are nothing to do with Flash and hundreds of people around the world start talking about all these things, I guess its time to recognise that the BBS has a life of its own and to those people, of which there are hundreds and hundreds, the mods are apparently really important, even if, as Salnax and I agree, there doesn't seem to be much to say about them!
I personally am more than happy to have someone other than me ask the question "What do people actually want to know about NG?" and I would be delighted if people can politely and constructively answer that question.

I don't deny your charge that we sometimes push our promotion of Wikigrounds on the BBS a bit and I am sorry if that irritates people, however, I assure you, that as far as I know, the various people who responded to Tom's post with phrases like "I thought we already had a wiki" were not our stooges.
If you read our posts you will see that we welcome the new wiki and we do not in any way deny its value. Wikigrounds started in 2006 and we had no idea that this one would develop- It is a voluntary project of interested NG fans, and we don't mean to claim any more than that. I am sorry if you feel that we gave the impression of claiming to be "Official" - the site does not use that word and I would not, as an admin, permit it.

Although some would say we would get more publicity out of some kind of conflict on NG, I don't think like that and I hope we can all offer people information in a form they want. If you wish to talk to us, get in touch, if not, no problem and best of luck with your projects and interests.

- Even if the BBS side got a lot of hits, that's no good reason to put pointless articles about pointless BBS users. If I didn't make it clear, I didn't mean that there shouldn't be ANY BBS article. The bandwagon one was definitely good, but the user biography articles totally dominated the rule-explaining articles.

- You would be surprised that the BBS actually is a very small part of Newgrounds, getting only 3,000 visitors (including those who visit but don't post like myself) out of the 1,300,000 visitors that come to the site on a daily basis (which is about 0.2% of the traffic). It's comparable to a single atom in a drop of water. Yet your wiki is mainly based on the BBS more than anything else, yet not only 1% of the traffic. Logically it doesn't make any sense, especially the user-specific articles.

- Your view, my friend, is very small. Open your eyes. The BBS is a very small section of the site, despite getting hundreds of posters. My advice, and you don't have to take this, is to shorten down the number of BBS articles. Personally, I think there should be ONE article for ALL the moderators (and each mod will get their own "biography" in the article), ONE article for ALL the administrators (maybe Tom & Wade can get their own individual articles), and maybe one article for all popular BBS regulars. It really cuts down the number of articles in the wiki, and makes it easier to navigate through the wiki than the waves of useless crap that's present in there. Compress all popular flash authors into one article, compress all popular flash series into one article, etc, etc. Being concise is one of the key things needed to ensure success.

- What I think people may want to know about NG is a little brief history of hit (how it began and grew), the SITE RULES (this should be the bulk of the wiki) which INCLUDES BBS rules/bannable phrases, a small going through of the BBS community (redundant, yet not a bad idea), and what to do on the site. That's just my opinion; there are probably tons of answers available.

- If you admins think your wiki is so "awesome", then at least take the time to put in site rules and explaining them out. That's one of the most useful things that can be done to improve the wiki. That, and balance out the individual user interviews with site features. Some people may not be interested into reading individual user descriptions, as it's downright attention whoring/advertising.

- Yes I'm aware about those posts in Tom's thread. My problem is how all you admins went into whoring out the link and everything. Doing it once or twice is one thing, but whoring it out when possible is another.

Ok that's all the constructive criticism I got. I'll check the wiki again in a few months, and if I got advice I'll send either you or Salnax a PM. I won't register and directly edit it, however.

Best of luck on the wiki, and remember there is still a lot of work left to do. You are far from the finish line.

If I feel like pitching in to helping out, I'll link to you parts of my Newgrounds Guide where you all can take out the information in there and put it in your own wiki (provided that I can even get to writing the guide in the first place). However with too much work to do on NG don't expect that to happen for awhile.

And the only reason you see so many topics like that is because you look for threads like that and completely ignore the rest. And I can tell, just like people who hate 4chan, you've only ever viewed one or two boards on the BBS. There are actually a lot of intelligent threads, yeah, they're in between a "Lolololo dicks!" thread or a "Religion is stupid because (insert stereotype that only applies to one religion)" but there is literally NO site on the internet full of awesome, elite threads made by super intelligent people that discuss things that everyone will care about and are totally mature. One of the reasons I have 3,000 posts is because I've been here for two years and it gets pretty boring just spending my time watching shit that will pass no matter how many people vote zero, and the news posts on the blogs are even stupider, shit, mods can't even do anything about blog posts. If anything on the site needs to be fixed, I'd say they need to up the standards for a flash to pass judgment and we need blog mods.

The politics forum is a standard I'm wanting in General. Yes I looked at all forums by the way. General and Writing are a shit hole. Collaboration, Animation, Programming, Flash and Audio are decent. C&C is lame and requires you to whore out the club in your signature, be a constant poster in the club, etc, etc. Wi/Ht is a +1 shithole. Art is flooded with crap, and so on and so forth.

You're right that there's no perfect forum on the internet. There never will be. But a cut down on stupid masturbation threads, improved posting quality and less meme usage would definitely improve the BBS. An improved moderation system is a step forward, instead of letting everything slide.

I see your point on that. I will admit that if I didn't start the NG Guide project I would have left the site by now. The BBS went down to the shittier, there is too much crap on the portal, and so on.

The users have the right to put anything in their news post provided that it abides by the (unwritten) user page rules, so if you think there are stupid news posts don't comment on them and find something good to comment on. I try to make 1 news post per day in here to keep things interesting, so each day you'll see a new news post.

I 100% totally agree with you on the standards of flash passing judgment.

Thank you for your detailed reply. I will bear your thoughts in mind. I doubt I will actually be removing pages, but how would it make a difference to the speed one navigates the wiki? However, we have just had a BBS month, in which your hated BBS was promoted, plus we have done most of the Mod pages, so we will be focussing on other things now.
Thanks for the stats on BBS vesus whole site. I suspected that the BBS users had an inflated idea of thier own importance- what is your source of the stats? I will use it to alter priorities in future.

Although, obviously we are proud of our work, the tiny team of main editors who promote the site are not really self publicing at all- we do not have pages on the wiki we created and mainly we want people to come and help make it better and to actually use it.

Regarding the official wiki- its time will come, but don't trust it too much yet, its mostly an unedited copy of existing FAQ etc, some of which is way out of date:
FAQ:
"Q: Where are my sent messages?
A: The system does not currently keep a copy of sent messages.

As you are, like me a BBS skeptic, you may want to use this quote from Tom at the beginning of the FAQ:
"The focal point of NG is the Flash Portal"

SO IT SHOULD BE !

If you check out my user page you will see that I have less posts than you in all my years here and I am one of the top reviewers, so I really do mean it.
Thanks very much for your offer to use material from your Guide- we just might do that one day.
Best Wishes,
IceD

The source of the BBS stats was in one of Wade's BBS posts. I can't exactly remember what thread it was, but he said about 3,000 people visited the BBS, while total site visits were about 1,000,000 (both numbers rounded). Even if you take the exact numbers in his post and divide them together, the decimal is still less than 0.001.

Now the total site visits is increasing to like 1.3 million (I'm not too sure, but it's definitely over 1 million) and the BBS user base is declining (4,000 posts made by 970 users compared to 8,000 made by 1,500 in 2008). So the decimal is now even smaller.

- You have the right to be proud of your work. I'm not saying you shouldn't be. Always be proud of what you made. But don't act like it's absolutely perfect, because as harsh as it sounds it never will be.

- I agree with you on the official wiki; it seriously is outdated with stuff being ripped off directly from the FAQ.

- YES! It always should be!

- I actually have less posts than you do, if you look at my true account, SuperMarioBrosS (that has 0 BBS posts). Even with that said, I had quit posting since July (and in this account it was November) so you basically are more of a BBS user than I am.

- When I get around finishing sections of the guide up, I'll PM you or Salnax with the link and both of you can decide what information to add to your wiki.

Good luck on the wiki!
