Going to get some more news posts in here

Posted by NGReviewEater - December 7th, 2010

I need to make a far far far stretch from 510 to 1,000 news posts, preferably before the redesign comes. The purpose of this is to shove the interactive guides in here, whereas the actual one (the one intended to be in SMBS) will be posted outside of Newgrounds. So thus I'm going to start spamming news posts here again, though in a shorter period of time than SMBS (SMBS was too extreme - it went on for about 5 months).

I'll definitely get a legitimate news post here and there - once a day as I usually do. Except this time it's buried under masses of crap. The spam will depend if the computer I'm using stays in the basement or is removed, so it could last from 2 hours to the whole month. In fact, I may go back to SMBS and disable this account for I said not to send PMs here and soon the user page will be useless. SMBS will then hold the actual legit news posts, while this undergoes the spam bot.

I can get a maximum of 40 posts per day and a minimum of 1 per day. IF, let's assume, I get in 40 a day and there's no admin request to stop spamming (that's the one only thing that will freeze the bot), then 490/40 = 12.25 days of spamming continuously. So either I can use the news post spam bot and get it over with in 1.5 weeks or manually spam and prolong until the end of the month. The bot actually makes 45 per day so it will be slightly less than 12 days. I prefer spamming with the bot and get it over with quickly so that the damage to the blogs section isn't too severe (you get overcrowding of the blogs section for just 12 days and then it's empty of spam posts for the rest of the year, or there can be moderate overcrowding for the rest of the year).

So yeah, I'm going to turn on the bot and attempt to make the stretch from 510 to 1,000. It's going to be tricky, but I think I can do it. I may shut down the bot temporarily for a day after crossing a 100-mine (like 600, 700, 800, etc) so that the blogs section will cool down a bit before turning it back on. Once it hits 1,000.00 (decimal added for emphasis) I will turn it off for good and will turn it back on if I need more (which I will know if I need more sometime in May 2011). There may be a margin of error such that I go over 1,000 and to 1,020, but if that happens, it's probably because I'm at school/sleeping when the count had hit 1,000.

Unlike last time when I was a stubborn bastard at turning off the spam bot (where if people whine about it I speed up the bot even further), this time I will take all complaints into consideration and alter the plan if it annoys too many people. So if you're annoyed by me spamming too many posts in the blogs section, let me know (AGAIN send it here - do NOT send it to this account or your complaint will not be read). Bullshit bashing and immaturity will be ignored; constructive complaints will be taken into complete consideration.

And yes I can alter the speed of the bot to whatever I want - the max being around 46 a day and the minimum being 1 a day (it corresponds with the news post limit, so collision with the limit is rare).

In the future the image archive account will also be affected by the news post bot, but that is nothing to be worried about for it will be affected at around March 2011.

The bot will begin sometime around 5 PM, and with some luck end at the 19th of December.

EDIT 12/21/10 - Bot will end tomorrow or Thursday, and will officially die at Friday once SMBS reaches 100 posts. It may take an extra day or two if the bot is closed often by my dad.
