I need 10 news posts, so here's the first one.

Combustion

Definition - The act of something burning in the presence of oxygen and fuel

You have 10 seconds (not 5 since this word is fancy) to write down a list of things you think of when you think of the word combustion.

I'm not putting my list up since this is a pretty narrow topic and chances are there will be ripping off.

And for the people who live in the East coast, this word is considered a SAT vocab so KNOW IT.

I'll probably stop doing these types of news posts when I think of something good, but until then this will have to do.

Seriously, I think Newgrounds has viruses in here, or some crap. It may not be Newgrounds hosting viral content, but probably the ads in here that have viral content themselves (I think it's the latter one).

I'm going to pile up the evidence:

- One time FireFox blocked a page on Newgrounds because one of the ads hosted spyware
- Another time Google Chrome blocked a page on Newgrounds once again
- This computer I'm using right now died and I had to use System Restore to get it back up - and I went on Newgrounds a lot with it (this is prominently the one I used to make those blank posts without the spam bot)
- My dad's $4,000 computer (the one I posted on SMBS) is being extremely glitchy (currently I'm running Spybot - Search & Destroy right now on it and so far I got 14 adware entries). This one is not reliable evidence for my dad uses that to visit lots of websites, so I wouldn't count this against NG. HOWEVER ever since I did some image archiving on NG it started being glitchy as fuck. I was planning on covering crap loads of image archiving today too since it has a 4 GHz processor and 3 GB RAM...
- My Vista computer was being super slow, and 99.70% of the websites I went to was Newgrounds (the rest was my gradebook and school websites). I had to run Spybot and it caught like 40 entries.

I don't know if it me being stupid or if it's really NG, but this is really suspicious. I WANT to be reassured that Newgrounds has no viruses (so please prove me wrong) but I really don't know.

Oh, and also NONE of the computers had any virus/spyware protection initially until it started being extremely glitchy and slow.

If you don't have virus/spyware protection, download some free software NOW. Not only does it slow down your computer, but it can kill it as well. I actually suffered from a computer not booting up because it has taken a shit load of a beating from viruses and spyware that infected it. If I hadn't backed up the NG image archive (I put them in the school's network drive... yeah not a good idea but it saved my ass), I would have lost 1/3 of the image archive (of what I have right now). I'm sure I lost a small fraction of it, but whatever that's the past.

In fact, today when I booted Ustream Producer this computer had shut down mysteriously, and wouldn't boot up until 40 seconds later. And it took a lot of ass-kicking to get it booted. That's when I decided to scan this thing to clean it up and improve performance. Here's how:

For (free) Spyware protection, I recommend Spybot - Search & Destroy. For the first time since I installed it this thing detected like 60 alerts in my computer (and I had NO protection BTW, and I use this computer 99% on NG so that just says how dangerous outside websites and software can be). I deleted all of them, and this damn thing is running 50x faster than before. In fact, I think it will take less time to complete image archive stuff than usual (still not as fast as that $3,000 laptop I posted on SMBS).

I'm still yet to install anti-virus, so I can't give an opinion yet nor on what I recommend to install. But seeing how much spyware shit I got, I wouldn't be impressed on how many viruses I have as well.

Also, defragment your hard drive occasionally (like once every 2 weeks). This will also speed up your computer. All defragmenting does is gathers all the particles of all the files in your computer (yeah your files are scattered all over your hard drive - they are not grouped together like you would expect, so a single word document could have 20 particles all over the hard drive) and puts them together. If you don't defragment your hard drive, your computer has to work hard to find all the particles to open up a file.

Also if you do defragment your hard drive do it TWICE (this is important). Doing it once won't do much good. The first time your computer will gather the particles but won't put them in the right place. The second time it will put them in order correctly. Credit to Basset for telling me that.

But the point is, send all PMs in one account. Don't send it to all my accounts or send a message to an account I rarely check (like Zombicidle) unless it's something extremely urgent/important (like the chat, but even that keep it to SMBS 2008 and this account only).

Occasionally I may be lazy and send a PM from my other accounts, but that's on me. But if you're the one composing a fresh message, then send it to NGRE.

This is one of those polls where I do not give out any choices to choose from, but rather you make up one and submit it (make it realistic; don't be witty or be a smartass).

Background:

So yesterday I turned 16 years old. As some US users know, in some states you can apply for a driving permit when you're 16, and after a year of driving you can apply for a full license. During the permit you have time restrictions on when you can drive, AND your parents must be present. With license you can drive alone, but there are still time restrictions (except they are wider) until you turn 18 or 21 or whatever (I dunno about the last part).

So anyway, I turned 16. Now I am at the age of applying for a permit.

At what month do you think is best that I get my driving permit?

I'll keep a tally on all suggestions here. The one that gets the most amount of tallies MAY be the month I'll try to apply (note: my parents can obviously override my decision if they want).
