In this post I shall place a list of users/mods/admins who have helped me with the guide, and give them credit.

If you have contributed something, chances are your name will be here! If you did contribute something and I did not list you here, send me a PM.

So here we come to the end of the prelminaries. No it won't be deleted. Except now you're going into Part 2. Part 2 is the cover page of the next topic: The History of Newgrounds. Part 3 will be an outline of what that topic covers. Part 4-X will cover index pages and links to other index pages.

On February 2010, Wade Fulp has decided to stream the giant snowstorm that's expected to hit Southeast Pennsylvania. He has set up a channel on UStream to show the snow to users, and the channel also had a chat for NG users to talk about stuff. Being the lifeless loser I was, I spent over 12 hours in there chatting with other users. After Wade has shut down the snow cam, he reopened it (a second snowstorm that was coming) in a different channel and streamed it there too. There I also met deathofghosts. and Spaintendo was a regular in there as well. After that stream was shut down, deathofghosts, Spaintendo, and I decided that we need our own private chat. deathofghosts made a chat, but then he closed it down. I then opened a chat called Newgrounds-Guide-Chat, and from that point on I decided it is good for that chat to be merged into the guide (more specifically, the preliminaries) to enrich the entertainment. So basically, Wade successfully referred me into UStream, and I used that to my advantage.

The Newgrounds Guide Chat is a place for users to meet up and talk real-time. The chat doesn't have to be about the guide, nor does it need to pertain to Newgrounds. The lounge is also for users to chat, but unlike the chat it is punctuated; meaning people can drop a comment a day and still have a conversation. The lounge is best suited for those who can't handle real-time chatting or don't like to chat in real time, and for other reasons. The chat is best suited for users who like to carry out a real time conversation with other users. Anybody is welcome to chat; simply sign up for an account on UStream and begin typing away!

Basic FAQ:

Q: How do I become a mod in this chat?
A: First of all, do not ask to be a mod. Secondly, chat appropriately and be like a role model. Third, point out abuse to the current moderators in case we're not on and you may become a mod yourself. Finally, in the event the chat is being invaded by trolls and spammers, the current nominators may nominate you to be a mod to fight off the spammers and trolls. If you are "in the other side of the world" (as in when it's 11 PM here it's around 10 AM - 3 PM in your area) you may be nominated quickly in order to try and keep a mod possibly online during the nighttime of NG.

Q: Why is it that I lose my power to moderate the chat after refreshing?
A: As a safety precaution, to prevent mods from nominating someone who isn't suited for the job (due to personal opinion or bias) and causing abuse, the chat will strip off your mod status after refreshing the screen. You will remain to be a mod as long as you don't refresh the screen and maintain an internet connection. However, you can be demodded by a permanent moderator if there is no need for extra moderation.

Q: I can demod a permanent moderator?
A: Yes you can, and it also kicks the mod out of the chatroom. But the moderator can simply refresh the chat, get back in, and kick your ass, so don't try doing that. An offense like that will lead to a ban, and consider your chances of being a mod zero. Only the broadcaster (me) can permanently demod or nominate people as permanent mods. If you ban a permanent mod without good reasoning then you will be permanently banned from chatting again.

Moderator Rules:

- Do NOT demod other moderators unless they go completely berserk/abusive. This will lead you to be demodded and a ban.
- Do not randomly delete text or enable/disable chat features. Only use or disable features accor
- Respect users as if you are one; just because you are a mod doesn't mean you're better than a user
- Follow the user chatting rules listed above. Just because you're a mod doesn't mean you can break the rules.

Moderator Guidelines:

- Remove abuse that breaks the rules
- Do not delete comments you do not agree with or if it's by a certain user you dislike/hate
- If you're not sure if you have to moderate something, DON'T MODERATE IT. I would rather see users have fun than have something borderline be removed and possibly ruining the entertainment.
- Do NOT nominate other users as mods unless the chat is being invaded by trolls and you need assistance
* Only nominate those who you think will not abuse the power, and make sure to demod them when the situation has calmed down
- Use the time-out feature if a user has SEVERELY broke the rules. If it's a minor infraction only remove the text
- Use the kick feature if the user has repeatedly broke the rules.
- Use the ban feature if a user has been a huge nuisance and the chat is better without him/her (NOTE: Ban is IP-based, so the user cannot evade it with another account.)
- Always leave links enabled unless users begin carelessly linking to material
- Do not use slow mode unless the chat becomes extremely busy with so many people, and/or users rapidly chat quickly
- Try to participate with the users in the chat instead of staring at the chat and removing abuse like a robot
